What We Believe
1. BIBLE
We believe the
Bible to be the complete Word of God; that the 66 books, as originally written,
were inspired by the Spirit of God and free from error (infallible); that the
Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
(2 Peter
1:19-21; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:13)
2. GOD
We believe in
the one and only God, Creator of all, existing in three equal persons, Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Ephesians 4:6;
Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1:26; 1John 5:7-8)
3. JESUS CHRIST
We believe in
the divinity of Jesus Christ (Son of God), in His eternal existence with the
Father, virgin birth, sinless life, death on our behalf, resurrection,
ascension, and His personal, visible, and bodily return to judge all people,
the living and the dead.
(John 14:9;
Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:11)
4. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in
the Divinity of the Person of the Holy Spirit who convinces of sin, of
righteousness and of judgment; who comes upon the believer at conversion, who
is the giver of gifts as he desires, and produces the Fruit of the Spirit in
the life of the submissive believer.
(John 14:16-17,16:7-11; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; Matthew
3:11)
5. SATAN
We believe that Satan, who is an evil
personality, is a fallen angel, who opposes God and humanity, and was defeated
by Christ’s death on the cross.
(2 Corinthians 11:14; Isaiah 14:4-17;
Revelation 12:7-10)
6. HUMANITY
We believe man and woman were created by
God in his image, that they/we sinned, making them/us
guilty before God, resulting in physical and spiritual death.
(Genesis 1:26-27, 2:16-17, 3:4-7; Romans
5:12-18, 3:23)
7. SALVATION
We believe that salvation from sin and
eternal death is available by faith in Christ alone. Salvation requires genuine
repentance, resulting in a changed life, and it is by God’s Grace and not by
works that we are saved.
(Ephesians 2:8-9; Mark 1:15; 2 Corinthians
5:17; Romans 3:22-23)
8. ORDINANCES
We believe there are two ordinances for
the church, regularly observed in the New Testament:
a. We practice Baptism, of the believer in water (immersion), in the
name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as identification with Christ in his
death burial and resurrection.
(Romans 6:3-6; Matthew 28:19)
b. The Lords Supper,
is a remembrance of the price Jesus paid for our salvation, where the believer
partakes of the bread and wine, which symbolize the Lord’s body and shed blood.
It is also the spiritual observance of the new covenant, symbolized by the cup
which represents the shed blood of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 11:23-34)
9. CHURCH
We believe in the universal
(Ephesians 4:10-13; 1 Corinthians 12:27-31)
